At the same time, Friendship Day started in the year 1919 according to another story. The credit for this goes to the founder of Hallmark Cards, Joyce Hall. It is said that at that time people used to send Friendship Day cards to their friends and express their love and tell them how important they are in their life.
The businessmen had chosen August 2 to celebrate this beautiful day, so that on this day all the friends could come together to express their appreciation for friendship and can spend time with each other by giving cards and gifts to each other. Since then this Friendship Day has been celebrated till date. Although, on 27 April 2011, the United Nations changed its date to 30 July. But in India, every year it is celebrated on the first Sunday of August.
